If God

If God gave me a job
I would wanna be the one,
who paints the clouds into special shapes,
beneath the burning sun.

If God gave me a present
for two unicorns I'd ask,
they didn't get on to Noah's Ark
but now I'd change the past.

If God gave me a power
the power I'd request,
to understand all earth's creatures,
and do what they think best.

If God gave me an element
the one I would require,
would be water of the purest kind,
to rain down for nature's desire.

If God gave me some food
the food I'd wish to taste,
would be the fruit of life
for all earth's hunger,
and I'd ask for it post haste.

Our world is turning all the time
let's make a turn worthwhile,
for all our children,
and our children's children
let's do it in some style.

Our Home

The gods gave us a planet,
a world of our very own.
They trusted us to keep it well,
saying it's only yours on loan.
The gods gave us the ability
to grow anything from seed,
warmth, air and water,
everything you'll ever need.

They trusted us with precious life,
they left us all alone,
I guess they thought we'd nurture it,
but we skinned it to the bone.
All the secrets are here on earth,
magical remedies,
for sick and dying people, animals and trees.

Beauty is the pleasure of birth
magic of the purest kind,
the meaning to all of life,
the answer we search to find.
We hold the solution in our hands,
tender and so mild,
the pieces of the puzzle are here,
untamed and purely wild.

Now is the time to stop the hurt,
and start to heal the pain.
The moment for repair is here,
we are guilty and to blame.
Let us soothe our world together,
amend our faults as one,
stand up and be decent,
and accept what we have done.

We will stand united,
whatever our colour or creed.
We'll be enlightened,
and forgiven for our greed.
What we must do,
we must do now,
for the future of our home.
After we have won the war,
we will never be alone.
